Meet the Eight Mile Plains Team!
Sherri, Centre Manager.
What inspired you to pursue a career in childcare education, and what keeps you passionate about it today?
After 20 + years in the childcare industry, I can say my passion was sparked by a deep desire to make a positive impact on young minds. I’ve always believed in the power of early childhood education to shape the future, and that belief continues to drive me every day.
How would you describe your approach to creating a nurturing environment where children can thrive?
My approach to creating a nurturing environment is centered around fostering trust, safety, and creativity. I believe that every child learns best when they feel respected, valued, and supported. By providing a balance of structure and freedom, I create a space where children feel confident to explore, take risks, and express themselves, ultimately setting the foundation for lifelong learning and growth.
Can you share a memorable moment from your time at Piptree?
One of the most memorable moments from my time at Piptree was during a team brainstorming session when we were working on a new initiative to enhance our curriculum.
The energy in the room was contagious, with each team member contributing unique ideas and perspectives. What stood out the most was the sense of collaboration and respect among us. One of my colleagues shared an innovative approach to supporting children with diverse learning styles, and the way the team rallied behind the idea, refining it together, was truly inspiring.
It was a powerful reminder of how a strong, cohesive team can make a real difference in creating an enriching environment for both children and staff.

We respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work – the Yuggera, Turrbal and Jagera people. We pay respects to elders past, present & future.
