The Piptree Curriculum

Our educators impart the five principles of the Australian Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) to provide the best early education and holistic development to our children.

Identity & Belonging

Children build a strong sense of identity and belonging through secure relationships, inclusivity, and celebration of their individuality.

Wellbeing

We promote children’s overall wellbeing by providing safe, supportive environments that build resilience, confidence, and emotional regulation.

Active Learning

Educators nurture curiosity and persistence through purposeful play and projects that inspire creativity and problem-solving.

Communication

Children develop rich communication skills through diverse language experiences, storytelling, and multiple forms of expression.

Community

We foster connection, respect, and responsibility through engagement with community, culture, and Country.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is inclusive, responsive, and guided by EYLF and QKLG to support holistic, intentional learning.

Pips – 6 Weeks to 1 Year

In our Pips room, we provide a gentle, nurturing environment to support your baby’s growth during
this precious stage of life. We understand how important it is for your child to feel safe, loved, and
secure – especially when they’re away from you.

Our caring educators take the time to build strong, trusting relationships with each child. We follow
consistent routines, offer plenty of cuddles, and respond sensitively to your baby’s needs – helping
them feel calm, connected, and confident as they explore the world around them.

At this stage, babies are naturally curious. We support their growth as they roll, crawl, and pull to stand, explore toys through touch and sound, and enjoy simple games like peek-a-boo and bubbles.

Communication is encouraged through daily talking, singing, and reading, while babbling, gestures, and first words are celebrated every step of the way. We also foster social bonds through shared play, gentle routines, and one-on-one attention.

Every experience is designed to support your baby’s sense of security and joy, while we partner with families to celebrate each precious milestone.

Sprouts – 1 to 2 Years

At this stage, toddlers are bursting with energy, independence, and curiosity! In our Sprouts room, we nurture their growth through hands-on experiences that encourage movement, exploration, and play.

Children build key skills like walking, climbing, feeding themselves, and beginning to use words to express their needs. Through painting, block play, sensory activities, and simple games, they develop creativity, coordination, and problem-solving.

They also start enjoying songs, stories, and rhymes, while learning to share, take turns, and play alongside others. With patience, encouragement, and care, our educators support toddlers to grow confident, capable, and connected.

Buds – 2 to 3 Years

In the Buds room, children bloom with confidence, independence, and imagination. At this stage, they’re learning to dress and feed themselves, explore more active play like running and climbing, and use simple sentences to share their thoughts.

We support independence with choices, self-help skills, and gentle encouragement to try new things. Through storytelling, songs, pretend play, and creative activities, children grow their language, friendships, and understanding of emotions.

Our educators provide a warm, respectful environment where every child feels supported, confident, and excited to discover something new each day.

Blossoms – 3 to 4 Years

In the Blossoms room, children’s imagination, confidence, and curiosity truly flourish. This age is full of questions, discovery, and learning through play and social connection. Children begin to speak in full sentences, tell stories, and form friendships while developing coordination and independence through climbing, puzzles, and creative play.

Our educators balance guided learning with open-ended play to spark creativity, support early literacy and numeracy, and explore themes of nature, community, and belonging. By encouraging self-expression, emotional awareness, and resilience, we help children grow in confidence and prepare for a smooth transition into their kindergarten years.

Poppies – 4 to 6 Years

Children prepare for a confident transition to school—socially, emotionally, and academically. We offer a Queensland Government-approved kindergarten program delivered by qualified early childhood teachers, with families eligible for Free Kindy.

Our program, guided by the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG), builds strong foundations in language, literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving through play-based learning. Children develop independence, resilience, and social skills while exploring projects that spark curiosity and creativity.

Key areas of focus include:
Identity – feeling safe, secure, and confident
Connectedness – building relationships and community awareness
Wellbeing – healthy habits and emotional regulation
Active learning – persistence, creativity, and problem-solving
Communicating – extending vocabulary, writing, and self-expression

Every child is supported as a capable, unique learner, encouraged to follow their interests, ask questions, and grow a love of learning—setting them up for success in Prep and beyond.

FAQs

What does play-based learning look like?

At our centre, children learn best through play! Play-based learning means your child is exploring, imagining, problem-solving, and building important life skills—all while having fun.

Through activities like building with blocks, role-playing, painting, or playing outdoors, your child learns about the world, how to work with others, and how to think creatively. Our educators guide and extend this learning by asking questions, encouraging curiosity, and helping children make new discoveries.

What does your educational program include?

Our program is thoughtfully planned to support your child’s growth in every way—emotionally, socially, physically, and intellectually.

We follow the national and state guidelines (EYLF and QKLG) to make sure your child’s learning is developmentally appropriate, engaging, and meaningful. Each day includes a mix of play, group time, creative activities, and routines that build confidence, communication, and independence.

What kind of learning experiences will my child have?

Your child will enjoy a wide range of activities like:
• Painting, music, and imaginative play
• Building, puzzles, and problem-solving games • Storytelling, singing, and early literacy
• Outdoor play, movement, and sensory exploration
• Group experiences that build social and communication skills

These experiences are designed to be fun and enriching while helping your child learn new skills at their own pace.

How do you cater to each child's individual needs?

We know that every child is unique. Our educators take time to get to know your child—what they enjoy, what they’re good at, and where they may need support.

We observe their play and interactions to help tailor learning experiences that suit their interests and needs. We also work closely with you to make sure we’re supporting your child’s development in the best possible way.

What role do educators play in my child’s learning?

Our educators are more than just supervisors—they’re active participants in your child’s learning journey. They set up thoughtful environments, guide play, ask questions, offer support, and encourage children to try new things.

They also build strong, trusting relationships with each child, helping them feel safe, confident, and ready to learn.

Do you follow a specific curriculum?

Yes, we follow the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) for all children and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG) in our Government-approved kindergarten program for children in the year before Prep.

Our curriculum is flexible, child-led, and built around children’s interests and stages of development. It helps us plan meaningful learning that supports your child’s growth in every area.

How do you check on my child’s progress?

We keep track of your child’s learning through regular observations and documentation. This helps us understand how your child is developing, what they enjoy, and what skills they’re working on.

We use learning stories, photos, and notes to celebrate milestones and share this with you through our online platform, Storypark. We also catch up with families regularly to talk about progress and goals

How do you keep families informed?

We believe in strong partnerships with families. You’ll receive regular updates through Storypark, including photos, videos, and stories from your child’s day.

We also offer parent meetings, learning summaries, and are always happy to chat at drop-off or pickup. You’re a big part of your child’s learning journey, and we want you to feel informed and involved every step of the way.

Can I be involved in my child’s learning at the centre?

Absolutely! We love having families involved.

You’re welcome to:
• Join us for special events and celebrations
• Share your culture, skills or stories with the group
• Volunteer for classroom activities or excursions
• Provide input into our program and planning

Your involvement shows your child that learning matters—and that we’re all working together to support them.

How do you keep my child safe?

Your child’s safety and wellbeing are always our top priority.

We follow strict safety procedures, regular risk checks, and make sure all our educators are trained in First Aid, CPR, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis management. Every staff member also completes Child Protection Training, and we go above and beyond to ensure supervision and safe environments at all times.

We are proud to uphold the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, which means we create a space where children are safe, heard, and respected. We welcome family involvement in keeping our centre safe and inclusive for everyone.

We respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work – the Yuggera, Turrbal and Jagera people. We pay respects to elders past, present & future.
